Michonne & Her Pets: a Walking Dead POP! Vinyl Diorama

I had so much fun making my Wizard of Oz POP! Vinyl Diorama a few weeks ago I that decided I would continue creating silly new display boxes if any additional POP! Vinyls should happen to join my rather random toy collection. I didn’t really anticipate buying any new figures so quickly, but I went to Tate’s Comics last week for an art opening in the Bear + Bird Gallery (featuring amazing Lenticular Artwork by Kerry Tichenor)  and while I was there I spotted my all time favorite Walking Dead character (books & show), Michonne! And the set even included her two pets. It wasn’t even a question, Michonne was coming home with me. She is like Queen BAMF of my heart.

And so I went about finding the right size shoebox and collecting twigs and sorting through my stash of moss to create a desolate woodland setting for her to conquer with bad-assery.  I went with a pretty simplistic layout, mostly because they included so much detail on the vinyls (check out that splatter), I just wanted them to remain the most interesting part of the scene.

Which POP Vinyls! should I get next?

Zombie Truffles For the Discerning Brain Enthusiast

So apparently May is Zombie Awareness Month, who knew right? And to celebrate (?) our favorite non-living, flesh-craving, decomposing monster friends, Instructables user Kristylynn84 created amazingly creeptastic brain-shaped truffles. Loves! So raise a glass to zombies for the endless hours of entertainment they have provided through amazing horror films, amazingly horrible horror films, and of course Walking Dead books. Mmmm, brains.

Not At All Cute: R.I.P. Paul the Psychic Octopus

It seems like only yesterday that the cutest and most popular of the psychic cephalopods, Paul the psychic octopous, correctly predicted the outcome of 8 World Cup games and wedged his tiny tentacles into our hearts.

Alas, Paul was not long for this world and has apparently passed away of natural causes at his aqaurium home in Germany. Paul was only 2 but even in that short time, managed to inspire the hearts and minds of people throughout the world who place bets on soccer games. Sad as we are to report non-cute news on this blog, we couldn’t ignore Paul’s untimely passing after all the joy he has given us. We’ll miss you Paul, here’s to hoping yr having fun swimming through the great beyond.

Celebrate Mother’s Day with Some Zombie Wine

I know this is clearly off topic and this post should be elephant mommies snugging their little ones or kittens with hats but this was just too great to pass up, even though it’s cuteness is outmatched by it’s awesomeness.

Return of the Living Red from McClaren Vale Winery

This amazing bottle of booze is Return of the Living Red wine. That’s right friends, zombie wine, and the label is what’s even more impressive. Besides the radness of the dripping red wax, the label itself is actually an envelope with an entire horror story inside with accompanying artwork.

The design company responsible for this amazingness is MASH so you can blame them for making you crave a wine you’ve never tasted based on ass-kicking marketing. I’m ready to buy, but unfortunately the winery’s website is under construction so we’ll have to wait for the resurrection. Man, this should have been an Easter post.

Know Your Dinosaurs T-Shirt

Just came upon this adorable gem on Threadless.com. Yet another pertinent example of why it is so crucial to  know your dinosaurs, especially which ones eat each other. This information proves especially useful when curating a zoo of wild adorable dino toons.

Michelle’s Halloween Treats: Ghosts in the Graveyard!

My friends are so talented, especially when it comes to creating Spooktacular Halloween treats and goodies. These ghostly delights were created by my friend Michelle (known in her high school days as MichellicA), a fan of cute goodness and Halloween treats!

Halloween Adventures: Day at the Pumpkin Patch

It’s almost Halloween, the absolute best day of the year, so of course that means time to carve pumpkins! First stop the pumpkin patch. I’ve seen fancier ones, but this is south Florida, and we were lucky all the pumpkins hadn’t exploded yet in the heat!

Next of course was the mighty task of finding just the right pumpkins to take home. I don’t like ’em too large, Kaleb was on the hunt for one with “warts” and Patrick was seeking a flat side.

Next stop, the kitchen table for making new friends!

Patrick decided to use a stencil to create a creepy Halloween castle pumpkin. He really got into the spirit!

I decided that my pumpkin would have a funny face, but since it ended up looking a bit on the drunk side, I gave him some pumpkin guts to throw up (spooky meets gross out?).

By the end of the afternoon, we all had new friends for Halloween! Perhaps other people could carve a better Jack, but at least the love was not in short supply.

Happy Halloween! Feel free to send in pics of your cute, spooky, weird, or just awesome Halloween Jack-o-Lanterns and we’ll publish them right here on Look Out! The Cute!
